GK: Simon Mignolet, Liverpool

Simon Mignolet put in an absolutely stunning showing at St. Mary's on Saturday.

In what was arguably his best game for the club, the Belgian single-handedly stopped Southampton from getting back into the game with two magnificent saves toward the end of the first half.

His reflexes and agility are insane.

RB: Mathieu Debuchy, Newcastle United

The Mathieu Debuchy renaissance continues!

It was another strong showing from the Frenchman as Newcastle United ripped Hull City to shreds. He got up and down the pitch supremely well, provided an assist for one his side's four goals and defended pretty well.


Magpies fans will hope he continues in this vein.

CB: Martin Skrtel, Liverpool

Martin Skrtel was as solid as a rock on Saturday.

We've become accustomed to seeing him slip up, incessantly foul and score own goals in recent weeks, but he didn't put a foot wrong against a challenging Southampton attack at St. Mary's.

A refreshingly excellent showing.

CB: Ron Vlaar, Aston Villa

Without Ron Vlaar, Aston Villa look completely and utterly lost.

He's in the middle of a rich vein of form for the club, and while the assist "credited" to him for his side's first goal is perhaps a little flimsy, his defending certainly isn't.

He swept up extremely well against Norwich City on Sunday.

LB: Leighton Baines, Everton

There were a number of strong showings at left-back this week, but Leighton Baines edges them all out.

He picked up an assist for Everton's sole goal of the game against West Ham United, drilling in a low cross for Romelu Lukaku to convert, and he helped keep a clean sheet.

The Hammers are banana skin right now, and the Toffees didn't slip

CM: Jonathan De Guzman, Swansea City

Jonathan De Guzman capped a great showing with a goal on Sunday against Crystal Palace.

It wasn't enough to win the game and Tony Pulis' men clawed their way back into contention, but for 60 minutes, Swansea looked capable of running away with it.

The Dutch-Canadian scored in his second game in a row.


CM: Moussa Sissoko, Newcastle United

Moussa Sissoko, on occasion, rips teams apart single-handedly.

He's big, strong, athletic and quick. It's a combination most defenders can't handle when he's running straight at you, and his rasping long shot provides a real issue for goalkeepers.

He bagged two on Saturday afternoon.

AMF: Eden Hazard, Chelsea

Eden Hazard turned provider this week, taking a break from his usual goal-scoring exploits and setting up Andre Schurrle for a welcome hat-trick.

It showed the other side of the Belgian's game: clever, dinked passes glossed with perfect technique in addition to the powerful dribbling and finishing we know he's capable of.

AMF: Andre Schurrle, Chelsea

Andre Schurrle's Chelsea career got off to a pretty slow start, but bagging a hat-trick in a local derby versus Fulham is certainly a strong way to endear yourself to the fans.

His three goals were all extremely well taken and his confidence visibly rose throughout the game. Jose Mourinho will be hoping for more of the same now the standard is set.

ST: Luis Suarez, Liverpool

Luis Suarez was back to his monstrous best at St. Mary's on Saturday.

He slotted home with perfection early on after taking advantage of a mistake in the Southampton back line, twisted and turned his way to a penalty and laid the ball on a platter for Raheem Sterling to score.

An all-action, stunning showing.

ST: Christian Benteke, Aston Villa

Christian Benteke sparked Aston Villa into life on Sunday, scoring an overhead kick and a header from a corner to turn the match on its head.

The home crowd were on the verge of turning on their team until he sprang into action, and from there, he took complete control of the game.

We've been waiting for a performance like this for weeks.
